Electric Penguins will play Cassidy’s (42 Camden Street) as part of the Dublin Camden Crawl on Saturday 12th May @ 8pm. Admission is free.

Camden Crawl Dublin is the first ever sibling of its namesake Camden Crawl event in London which has become an internationally recognized calendar fixture renowned for showcasing the forthcoming year’s most hotly tipped live music artists alongside special guests to sell out audiences since its inception in 1995. The event takes place over 2 days, Friday 11th – Saturday 12th May 2012, throughout Dublin City Centre.

Electric Penguins feature in the 2FM Session on Tuesday 13th December 2011 playing live tracks from their album “II”,

it having already featured in Dan Hegarty’s Top 10 albums of the year. The show kicks off at 11pm so listen carefully.

Digital single: “Airships Fly Over Beaches With Godetias”

Under the influence of vintage German electronica and dreamy folk-pop, Electric Penguins are proud to present their new single “Airships Fly Over Beaches With Godetias”, the third from their newly re-released album “II”. Rolling Stone magazine photographer Robert Altman kindly lends 60′s vibes to the new single with a reproduction of one of his classic images from Hippie Hill, San Francisco, 1967.

Touted as ‘Synth Act Of The Year’ by Hot Press, the Penguins talents were recently heard on Channel 4 series “Sounds From The Cities” having performed its score and theme music. In addition, critical praise for the group’s album has come in the form of airplay from radio tastemakers such as 2FM’s Dan Hegarty, Newstalk’s Tom Dunne, Today FM’s Paul McLoone and Dublin’s indie station Phantom FM. Indeed “II” was among Dan Hegarty’s Top 10 albums of the year.

Available on CD and as a lovingly prepared double vinyl, the 12 track feast of psychedelic cuts slides dreamily between electronic, folk and ambient soundscapes with acoustic and club elements dispersed throughout the record. Whirly and trippy audio effects, vocoders, moogs, mellotrons, organs, deeply layered strings and naked pianos mash and mix to maximise melody. Amongst the delights featured are the folksy love song to London, “Highgate Hill” and the kraut-club inspired combo-track “Airships/Soundproof 45″.
